Mission
On
26th July, 1982, Port Training Institute (PTI) was
established
|
|
according to a Ministerial Decree stating that PTI is to
be affiliated to the Arab Academy for Science, Technology &
Maritime Transport (AASTMT).
|
|
|
A
committee comprising the Chairmen of Port Authorities & Maritime
Companies defined the focal mission of the Institute as follows:
“Training
& Upgrading
the
Maritime Sector Personnel”
|
|
In
utilization of PTI facilities & expertise, the Institute has extended
|
|
its training services to all
industrial, commercial, service,
petroleum…etc. sectors
|
|
|
PTI Main
Objectives
-
Maintaining
high standards and up-to-date vocational training for manpower working
in: shipping agencies, stevedoring, warehousing, supply companies,
container handling terminals and port authorities.

Preparing
newly recruited staff graduated from universities, high schools,
technical and management institutes to guarantee the development of
skilled highly trained staff coping with the new technology and
operations in maritime industry at large.
- Exchanging
expertise with international organizations specialized in maritime
transport and port industries, also with international training and
maritime institutes in order to keep pace with the latest trends,
training aids and training programs.
